The cast goes right up to his diaper. We've had to get creative when dressing him.
And of course he's still the same Asher so I am very busy trying to keep him from braking his other leg.
We have aquired about 9/10 of these toys since he broke his leg (gotta love garage sales) and my living room looks like I run a day care. Oh well. Once his cast is off the toys will go back in his room.
Since he is pretty much imobile, and it has rained almost every day since he got his cast on, he has become quite the Thomas the Tank Engine fan. He begs to watch "Dah-mas" every morning. And how do you like my artistry on his cast?
We're just trying to keep him occupied and happy. My house is a mess and I rarely shower anymore (TMI, sorry) but really I am impressed with how well Asher has adjusted. He is still our happy boy!People are always very nice when we go to the store, etc. They always talk to him and ask about his leg. I have had like 10 moms of boys tell me "Oh yeah. This is the first of many ER visits you will probably have." You may think that this would make me nervous, but in a selfish way it actually comforts me that it wasn't completely my fault. I feel like there has to be something I should have done to avoid it, but I know I have to stop rehashing the day. I think the hardest part, so far, of being a mom is trying to find the balance between protecting your child and overprotecting your child.

Oh I don't think I would like to hear that sound! It looks like you both have a good attitude about this. Good luck with the recovery and just think how strong you will be when it's all over!
I feel so bad for little Asher, but more for you. Although I might enjoy not having to chase a kid around for a little bit, I can't imagine entertaining them if they couldn't run and play. (And if it was rainy all the time.)I'm so sorry!
You sound like you are a great mom and I'm sure there is nothing you could have done. Kids need to be kids, right? I just pray everyday that I can keep them from serious harm.
Isaac and Joss send their well wishes :)
Yikes! That is no fun. Hasn't happened to me yet, but I am surprised it hasn't!
I heard that happens alot too. Slides should not stick to rubber. Their little shoes get stuck and crack.
Glad you are all doing better
I love the pictures of him in his cast. I have been wondering what the little man has looked like with his cast. I also love the top picture. It is hilarious.
We haven't had a broken bone yet but several ER visits. It's NOT your fault, and there is nothing you could have done. It was a SLIDE, for heavens sake!
And boy is he a cutie. You're a good mom.
Nah. Not in the least your fault. Could happen to any of us. And probably will. Love you!
Just be glad it wasn't his spleen.
Oh poor Asher! I hope his leg heals soon! You hang in there Shell and just keep on being the amazing mom that you are. Love ya.
Wow, there's nothing better than going to a blog and seeing a picture like that one. Could his eyes be any more like yours?! Gorgeous!
I'm glad things aren't any worse for you, considering the circumstances, and I think it's so hilarious how this post came right after the last one about self-destruction. Way to go on your dealing with it.
Poor Asher! Good luck keeping him occupied for the next few weeks :)
This is off topic, but I had to tell you that I was catching up on your blog a couple weeks ago & read the post about Natty Gann, the guy from Life is Beautiful & John Cusack-I was laughing so hard I almost peed my pants, I seriously haven't laughed that hard in a while so thank you!
