I am looking for suggestions for books to check out from the library.
What are your toddlers favorite books?
I would also like to check out a couple for myself. I am not looking for anything too deep, mainly just entertainment, but I'm open to most anything. Please make suggestions! I would love it!

i am reading "Cry the beloved country" right now and I love it. It's keeping me hooked but it's also informative and emotional and well-written.
Eva loves books about families and about characters she knows from movies or the children's museum or whatever (Clifford, Curious George, etc).
My kids loved "How do Dinsosaurs Clean their rooms?" and the other dinosaur how do books. Right now I'm reading the Elm Creek Quilts books. There's a ton of them, there's no yucky stuff, and They all have kept me pretty interested!
Max loves anything with flaps or touchy feely- like the "that's not my...." series from Usborne books. He also likes books that just name what is on the page so he can point to it and "read it" also anything to do with farm animal noises.
Of course he isn't too early to introduce him to some classics like where the wild things are! Rainbow fish is also a good one. Good luck if there is anything great you find let me know.
N loved "Dear Zoo" by Rod Campbell. Also, Dr. Seuss has a bunch of small board books that are condensed versions of the regular books. She loves them still!
I will let Emma go through the board books at the library and we'll bring home whatever she seems to like.
As for books for me, I'm drawing a blank on the author's name, she wrote The Poisonwood Bible and several other books that were all good. I also re-read To Kill a Mockingbird, some Steinbeck, and basically a bunch of books I read way back in high school and really enjoyed them again.
I recently read "Cat's Cradle" by Kurt Vonnegut. It was nice that the chapters were about 1-2 pages a piece. I also read "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" which was excellent.
Oh Liz, I wish I could let Asher pick out his own library books. But, he is more interested in running around the library and climbing on the shelves. For this reason I am putting on these books on hold before we get there. Our trips to the library are sadly pretty quick. Although Sheldon went with us last Saturday and chased Asher so I could get the reading time schedule, look around etc. It was a nice break. :)
Liz, that's Barbara Kingsolver, and I totally agree; she is an amazing author. Dan Brown's new book, The Lost Symbol is a page-turner. That's what I'm reading right now, as well as trying to finish Les Miserables, which is sadly taking me way too long to finish. Have you heard of The Hunger Games? Everyone I know says it's fantastic, but I haven't read it yet. For little boys: Anything by Donald Crews. Each one is about a different mode of transportation. Clark will read them over and over again. Also, Judy Cooley's Mom Says I Can is great for little boys, and their moms! I could read that one every day and not get sick of it. We also love How to Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers and Where Do Balloons Go? by Jamie Lee Curtis. I've also got a few links to some great Children's Lit blogs on my blog. Check 'em out!
If you want to read something funny try "Funny In Farsi." I don't remember the name of the author and it is packed at the time. It is true and about a family who moved here from Iran in the 70's. I laughed my way through the whole thing. It has sort of a My Big Fat Greek Wedding feel to it, but it is all true.
Hey I just found an article in the November 2009 Friend that reviews some children's books I've never heard about; thought you might want to know. The review is on page 40.
Okay, I know you're sick of me, but I figured out, during my recent research of about a million Friend magazines that they do a Book Review in every November issue. So there ya go.
Llama Llama Red Pajama is the boy child's favorite book lately. And pretty much all pop-up books.
