Trying to be optomistic... but it doesn't come naturally.

So, we'll start with

Things I LOVE....

One thing I DON'T love....

TAKING A SMALL CHILD TO CHURCH THAT MEETS FROM 11am-2pm. I realized today that if all Sundays in 2009 go the way today did... it will be a long year.

And the countdown to nursery begins!!

Don't worry, once he gets easier to bring to church, you'll end up with another one. It's an endless cycle of fighting with kids.

OH my gosh. Church is never harder than it is with a baby. I love that Isaac goes to primary and Noah goes to nursery now. Life is much easier. Sacrament meeting is still awful, no matter what age they are.

So so sorry. Empathy. We got it.

Okay, it's been a few years since you were all that age and I struggled with all four of you in church from the WORST church schedule ever, but I remember how it feels like it was yesterday. I don't know who thinks up a schedule that wipes out morning naps, lunch and afternoon naps, but it was undoubtably someone without small children and he should be hung from the highest tree immediately. (Or we could make him struggle with four small children under the age of six and see if the time is changed! Preferably on a hot summer day in the only room-Relief Society-without air conditioning.) Hang in there. Eventually you too will actually be able to listen to a sacrament meeting talk.

Good luck with church! I have decided that church anytime is not a good time with kids! :) Well, at least not my kids anyway...so I haven't looked at your blog in a while and so I haven't seen Asher since he was a newborn but oh my goodness he is the CUTEST thing in the world! I bet you kiss him 20 billion times a day. He is seriously so adorable Michelle (like you need me to tell you that) and I just had to let you know that. Hope you all are having a fabulous new year!

Ouch... bad timing, I know. August we switch to 8:30 AM. I'm not looking forward to it. Hopefully you guys will adjust quickly? Best of thoughts toward y'all! :) PS _ Ash had her baby today!! 8 lbs 12 oz, Roman, 19.5 inches long. she hurts lots being induced BUT the epidural worked for the main event. Hallelujah for her that it is DONE!

Amen to the church comment. We just switched back to 9 am. Hallelujah!
Oh, and just so ya know, I LOVE swiffer dusters. They are so wonderful.

Maybe I'm the unrighteous one here, but isn't it kind of nice that you get to leave and go sit in the mother's lounge in a recliner?

Okay, the mother's lounge would make it better, but back in the day we didn't have a mother's lounge. We didn't even have a place to change diapers in the bathroom and had to lay our kids on the floor to do the job. Miracles began to happen when men began helping with the kidlets - changing tables in the bathrooms, mother's lounges and even air conditioning in the Relief Society Room! I think it is so terrific that dads help so much more in the raising of the children. They understand that, yes, it is hard work; the kids benefit so much more from their interaction with their dads as well as their moms; and the dads are no longer missing out on all the really cool things of being a parent and watching those incredible little people develop and change and become really wonderful adults whom you love and are proud of - like Michelle!

It will be a long year plus till nursery. There is no getting around that. Bert and I had to trade off taking Emma home sometimes. But she started nursery on Sunday and she loved it just as much as we did!

Karen, I just have to say I love your comments! You are so funny and great to remember all of that. Whenever I ask my mom anything about raising us she pleads the 5th and says something about how it is all a blur. NOT FAIR! So, I love that you remember it!!! Thanks for having so much sympathy for our new parent struggles!!!

My favorite has been having church at one o'clock in the afternoon and being the only one sitting with my kids since Nate is in the bishopric. Luckily our ward doesn't frown upon Bristol sitting with him sometimes. Two Sundays ago we were sitting in the second row and Bristol was severely misbehaving and Kali was crazy. So Bristol was being extremely loud and so I was trying to take her out of sacrament to have her calm down, but instead she just keeps saying, (really loud)"No mom I don't want to". Finally I was about to lose it and said, "go sit with your dad now". She ran up to him and I saw the Bishop just chuckling since he saw the whole thing play out; Nate looked mortified.

Oh I didn't mention that one o'clock has been Bristol's nap time for the past year.
