So folks, last night was CRRRRAZY. You can't tell too much in this footage, but DANG the wind was fierce.
I was sitting home alone watching season 1 of Heroes (good show by the way), when all of the sudden the lights began a flickerin’. I started hearing some whirling winds so I took a look out the window and what did I see: tree branches and garbage blowing around the apartment complex. People were running for shelter, babies were lying in the street (okay it’s all true except the baby part). The sound of the wind was crazy loud; I honestly felt like I was in The Wizard of Oz.
So, much like when the tornado hit Sunnyvale back in 1997, I decided to walk outside and check it out. Only, this time I had a video camera. So I taped it. Sadly, though, you can't really tell how psycho the weather was on the video.... but lemme tell you... it was a little extreme.
Shortly after I finished recording this video part of the roof blew off our building. Then, the power went out. For TWO HOURS. I decided that Ben Franklin is my new best friend because life w/o electricity sucks. Especially at night, in the dark, home alone. BORING. Good thing I have a laptop so I could play Solitaire, but DANG that can only be entertaining for about 10 minutes. I started going a little loopy, (and getting hungry for dinner) when the power went back on. So, now I know I am grateful for electricity, flashlights, candles and food storage.
Didn't mean for this to turn into an essay. I think I felt the need to make the story dramatic since the video doesn’t do the night justice. Here's the video....
*Bonus.... name two songs that were paraphrased in the making of this post and win a free trip for two to Disneyland.
*Disclaimer: Bonus only valid if Michelle wins the Idaho Lottery.

You crack me up!! I loved your "essay" & I think you're brave for toughin' it out! I couldn't of done it :)
It's a good thing you weren't wearing baggy clothing. I bet with wind like that and an oversized raincoat, you'd be a regular flying squirrel...or an irregular flying squirrel, depending on your fiber intake.
Mr.Rogers and popcorn popping, and I didn't even have to look back!
it was a fine evening as i watched our roof fly off. hey i like the new color of the blog. way less depressing. ;)
Ok, Idaho Lottery huh? I love how that disclaimer went up AFTER I answered the questions!!! I hope our odds are good...I really want my trip to Disneyland. I did win, didn't I????
You are so little, I'd be afraid you'd BLOW AWAY!!! Crazy weather we're havin, ehh?
Kim... the disclaimer was up the WHOLE time. You just failed to notice until after you got the answer right. Good job smartie!!! I'll let you know if I win the lottery, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to buy a ticket first.
Yeah, well...gotta love that fine print.
